he Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is launching an initiative to track and report on changes in the American health care system and how these changes affect people. A key component this initiative is the Center for Studying Health System Change, which will conduct research, synthesize information and assist the foundation in coordinating other projects. The Centers goals are to produce high-quality objective analysis, identify emerging research questions and foster understanding of the dynamics of health system change among policymakers, payers, administrators, providers, the media, researchers and the public. In addition, it seeks to stimulate the health services research community to address the effects of change on people; to exercise leadership in synthesizing research findings;
